I met Michael Scribner in Dec 2008 at the 3rd Friday Men's Massage Exchange.  I took notice of him because there were five sign-language hands inked into his upper back.  It was a challenge to read what seemed like hierogylphics, but I discretely translated the word "TRUTH" when he was turned away from me.  I knew then that he was a kindred spirit.

TRUTH is the highest value in my personal philosophy.  Truth represents the single greatest pursuit in my life.  It means I am willing to give up anything in the pursuit of truth.

I've had an opportunity to watch Michael in various settings this past year.  He is truly remarkable.  He has a healing intuition and nurturing presence that is rare.  First, he doesn't seem to judge others, yet capable of correctly assessing people instantly.  I've watched him on numerous occasions lovingly accept and embrace any person that shows up.  Second, he has a special gift with people.  His gift seems to come from his ability to be present to you, listens intently, is patient with you, and is devoutly inquisitive.  I admire him for his skill, openness, and directness.

When I saw that Michael had permanently tattooed the word TRUTH on his body, I knew that he must be a man driven by deep conviction.  Using symbols from American Sign Language (ASL), for which he is proficient and adept in communicating, he demonstrates to me his indomitable nature.  Michael is someone to watch in this coming decade.  I expect that he will accomplish much, particularly in the greater public good of others.

I admire Michael because I came from a staunch religious background that required its membership to daily affirm that "we know the truth, and all others are an abomination."  For awhile, I believed I knew what TRUTH was.  I now believe that we cannot know anything.  We can only have faith in something.  I believe that truth is out there, and we can only point to it.

I have found Michael to be a man that points to truth.
